School Board Filing Period December 7-9
Those interested in serving on the Enid Board of Education are encouraged to apply with the Garfield County Election Board next Monday through Wednesday, December 7-9.
Offices #1 and #6, currently held by Matt Sampson and Kyle Whitehead respectively, are up for re-election. Sampson and Whitehead have said they plan to re-file for the seats. See the Board Boundaries.
The Garfield County Election Board is located at 903 Failing. Its office is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The primary election is scheduled for February 9. If no candidate receives more than 50% of votes cast, then a general election will be held April 6.

Once elected, members of the Board of Education are required to complete – within 15 months of election – at least 12 hours of instruction on education issues, including school finance, Oklahoma education laws and school board-related ethics, duties and responsibilities.
